Araghchi: Sanctions and geopolitical tensions hinder climate cooperation
Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said that sanctions and geopolitical tensions have weakened climate cooperation and disrupted coordinated action.
Speaking at the BRICS Summit in Brazil on the themes of environment and global health, Araghchi criticized the imposition of politically motivated sanctions by developed countries against developing nations such as Iran.
“These unjust sanctions and unilateral coercive measures have become serious obstacles to the efforts of developing countries,” he said.
Araghchi stressed the vital role of BRICS as a symbol of South–South cooperation and the voice of independent nations.
“We are gathered at a time when humanity faces interconnected crises—from the deep impacts of climate change and environmental degradation to escalating threats to global health and unfair structures that obstruct the progress of developing nations,” he said.
