Pars Today – The International Criminal Court’s (ICC) Pre-Trial Chamber II has issued arrest warrants for Taliban Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada and Chief Justice Abdul Hakim Haqqani for crimes against humanity.

According to Pars Today citing IRIB news agency, the ICC announced that its Pre-Trial Chamber II, in relation to the situation in Afghanistan, has issued arrest warrants for Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Leader, and Abdul Hakim Haqqani, the Chief Justice of the Taliban government.

These individuals have effectively held control over Afghanistan since August 15, 2021.

The court stated that there are reasonable grounds to believe the two individuals committed crimes against humanity in the form of “gender-based persecution” through orders, incitement, or encouragement. Victims of these acts include girls, women, and individuals identified as advocates for women and girls.
