Pars Today – The New York Times has revealed that thousands of calls for help from flood victims in Texas were left unanswered by the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
According to the report, a shortage of staff at FEMA prevented it from responding to emergency requests following a deadly and devastating flood in Texas.
Pars Today citing Mehr news agency, reported that two days after the catastrophic flood, FEMA failed to respond to emergency calls because it had not renewed contracts for part of its workforce. Nearly two-thirds of all calls went unanswered.
The flood has so far claimed the lives of more than 120 people, while many others remain missing in the affected areas.
