EU-US tensions rise over tariff dispute

Pars Today – The president of the European Commission has criticized US President Donald Trump’s new 30% tariffs on imports from European countries.

In a statement, Ursula von der Leyen said: “Imposing 30% tariffs on EU exports will disrupt vital transatlantic supply chains and harm jobs, consumers, and patients on both sides of the Atlantic.”

Von der Leyen added: “We remain committed to pursuing a deal by August 1^st, while also taking all necessary steps to protect EU interests, including adopting proportionate countermeasures if needed.”

Trump announced the new tariffs on Saturday, justifying them by citing the trade imbalance between the United States and the European Union.
