Putin: Europe is a political dwarf

Pars Today – Russia's President stated on Friday that "Europe is a political dwarf," while emphasizing: "We need a long-term and sustainable peace with Ukraine that satisfies both Moscow's and Kyiv's interests while also guaranteeing the security of certain other countries."

Following an informal meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko on Valaam Island in northwestern Russia, Vladimir Putin responded to journalists' questions by saying: "The Ukrainian negotiators who carefully suggested we should discuss European security as a whole are probably correct. The resolution of the Ukraine crisis could be considered within the framework of pan-European security."

The Russian president stressed his support for achieving "a lasting peace in Ukraine without any time limits." Putin added: "Moscow's primary goal is to eliminate the root causes of the Ukraine crisis and ensure Russia's security. The conditions Moscow outlined in summer 2024 regarding Ukraine remain unchanged."

Putin noted: "Of course, humanitarian issues must also be addressed alongside the security concerns of Russia and Ukraine."
