Trump threatens to cut emergency funding to pro-Palestinian U.S. states
Pars Today – U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration has threatened to cut off emergency federal funding to states and cities that express support for Palestine.
The U.S. federal government announced that states and cities that boycott Israeli companies will not be eligible for disaster preparedness funds. According to conditions set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), states must affirm that they will not sever commercial ties with Israeli companies in order to receive these funds.
This condition applies to at least $1.9 billion in federal funding that states rely on for search and rescue equipment, crisis management salaries, backup power systems, and other emergency expenses.
Since Trump took office, his administration has pursued the arrest and expulsion of pro-Palestinian individuals in the U.S., leading to the dismissal of hundreds of employees and students. Reports also indicate that the Trump administration is working to criminalize all forms of support for Palestine.
