Pars Today – The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office in Geneva has reiterated Iran’s firm stance on the total elimination of all nuclear weapons.

According to Pars Today, quoting Tasnim News Agency, the Iranian Mission in Geneva marked the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima by posting a message on the social media platform X, stating that preventing future tragedies like the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki requires genuine commitment to nuclear disarmament and the establishment of a world free of weapons of mass destruction.

The Iranian Mission to the UN Office in Geneva emphasized that Iran, as a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), supports the complete destruction of all nuclear weapons. It reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to a nuclear weapons–free world and defends its legitimate right to the peaceful use of nuclear science and energy.

On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, home to 350,000 people, killing 140,000. Three days later, a second atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki.
