China and Colombia's reaction to the deployment of American warships near Venezuela

Pars Today - China condemned the U.S. military actions and movements near the coast of Venezuela amid America's efforts to combat drug cartels and accused Washington of using foreign intervention against Caracas.

Regarding the U.S. military deployment near the coast of Venezuela, Mao Ning, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated: "Beijing opposes any action that violates the United Nations Charter and a country's sovereignty and security."

Colombian President Gustavo Petro also stated that an attack on Venezuela would be the worst mistake. The Colombian president, opposing the deployment of 4,500 U.S. soldiers and their warships to Venezuelan waters, emphasized: "I am concerned about the consequences of a potential U.S. attack on Venezuela."

U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered his country's military to prepare for a possible attack on Venezuela. Washington claims that Maduro and senior Venezuelan officials are a drug trafficking organization called the "Cartel de los Soles." /ISNA
