Croatia: We must recognize Palestine

Pars Today – On Thursday, the President of Croatia called on his government to begin the process in parliament to officially recognize an independent State of Palestine.

In a statement, the Office of the Croatian Presidency announced that President Zoran Milanović, during a meeting with Farsan Aghabekian, a senior official of the Palestinian Authority, said: “Croatia, in its efforts to help end the war and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, must recognize Palestine.”

Milanović stressed that recognizing the Palestinian people’s right to sovereignty over their own land is the only path toward establishing lasting peace in West Asia.

The Croatian president also strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on civilians and its occupation of Gaza.

Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron declared that France will soon recognize Palestine, a move that has encouraged other European leaders to increase international pressure on Israel to halt the war and widespread bloodshed in Gaza.

Countries such as Iceland, Ireland, Spain, Slovenia, and Norway, which had already recognized Palestine, have reaffirmed their support for this initiative.
