Trump’s West Asia quagmire deepens

Pars Today- The Washington Post has written that the quagmire in West Asia is deepening for US President Donald Trump as Iran’s allies make advances across the region.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, the Washington Post reported that after six months of war against Iran, Trump has not only failed to find a way out of the quagmire, but the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, two vital corridors for global energy transportation, are effectively under Tehran’s control. The East-West oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia, which bypassed the Strait of Hormuz, has also been targeted. As a result, oil prices have risen from around $70 to $105 per barrel, while gasoline prices in the United States have climbed from around $3 to $4.30 per gallon, putting the global economy under severe pressure.

The Washington Post stressed that as US ammunition stockpiles decline and the threat of attacks on US bases remains constant, Washington has shifted from military action to an economic pressure campaign. However, Tehran remains firmly in power, while the recent successes of its allies have increased Iran’s leverage.
