  • Iran: U.S. Hostile Actions Against Venezuela Threaten International Peace and Security

Pars Today – Iran’s representative in Geneva stated at the United Nations Conference on Disarmament that the U.S.’s unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela pose a serious threat to international peace and security.

Ali Bahraini, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Geneva, expressed deep concern over recent developments in Latin America and the Caribbean. He referred to years of illegal sanctions, unilateral coercive measures (UCMs), U.S. efforts to pursue regime change, and even attempts to assassinate legitimate Venezuelan officials. He added that the deployment of U.S. warships and nuclear submarines in the Caribbean openly threatens Venezuela’s political independence and territorial integrity.

Bahraini described U.S. actions as a “clear violation of the fundamental principles of international law, particularly Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter.” He further stated that Washington has also violated the principles of the peaceful settlement of disputes (Article 2, Paragraph 3) and non-intervention in the internal affairs of states (Article 2, Paragraph 7). /Tasnim
