On Monday evening, Seyed Ammar Hakim, head of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement, met with Seyed Kamal Kharrazi, Chairman of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, to exchange views on regional developments, bilateral relations, and the outlook for upcoming elections in Iraq.
Kharrazi emphasized that the principles of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s foreign policy are based on defending the territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and independence of all countries. He added that Iran has consistently stressed that an independent and strong Iraq strengthens regional security and stability.
The Chairman of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations further stated that the main reason for the U.S. dispute with Iran is over the Islamic Republic’s ability to respond to the aggressions of the Israeli regime in the region. He noted that the U.S. seeks to weaken Iran to facilitate Israeli domination over the region, enabling it to exert influence over Arab and Islamic countries on America’s behalf—a threat that endangers all countries in the region.
