Araghchi’s account of Iran’s proposed plan to Europe
Pars Today – The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while outlining Iran’s proposed plan to the European Union, emphasized that there is a way forward, but Tehran cannot be the only actor bearing the responsibility for action.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi wrote in a message on social media:“On behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a reasonable and practical plan has been presented to European counterparts in order to prevent an unnecessary and avoidable crisis in the coming days.” The Iranian Foreign Minister added: “However, instead of addressing the substance of this plan, Iran is now faced with a series of excuses and clear evasions; among them the ridiculous claim that the Foreign Ministry does not represent the entire political structure of Iran.” Araghchi, stressing that he enjoys the full support of all branches of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said: “Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, has acknowledged that the proposal presented by Iran is reasonable.” Referring to the fact that it is, in reality, Europe’s diplomatic apparatus that has been sidelined, he added: “The time has come for the United Nations Security Council to step in and replace confrontation with diplomacy.” Araghchi said: “By signing an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency—aligned with Tehran’s domestic and international commitments—which opened a new chapter of cooperation with the Agency, and by presenting a creative, fair, and balanced proposal that addresses genuine concerns and benefits both sides, Iran has fulfilled its share of responsibility.”
