Guterres: The world must not be intimidated by Israel’s threats over Palestine

Pars Today – The UN Secretary-General warned that Israel’s threats should not deter the recognition of the State of Palestine.

Antonio Guterres said Israel’s threats to annex the West Bank must not stop the international community from taking political action. He added that the destruction of Gaza and the expansion of settlements in the West Bank are steadily increasing. Guterres described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as catastrophic, calling it the worst level of death and devastation he has seen during his tenure as secretary-general.

Although some UN bodies have described Israel’s actions as genocide, Guterres refrained from using the term, saying: “The issue is not the word, but the reality on the ground.” /IRNA
