Pars Today – In the statement issued after the trilateral meeting in Baku, Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan emphasized their commitment to strengthening trilateral cooperation in the areas of transport, energy, and customs, as well as adopting pragmatic measures to make the most of the potential of the North–South Corridor.

Following the joint meeting between Iran, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Russia on issues of trilateral cooperation held on Monday in Baku, the parties expressed satisfaction with their joint collaboration in a statement. They emphasized the strategic importance of the statement by the presidents of Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia on August 8, 2016, as well as the joint declaration on November 1, 2017, in promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation among the three countries, developing regional and international transport corridors and projects that are safe and reliable, and advancing energy sector initiatives aimed at fostering regional economic growth.

The statement added that during the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of taking measures to increase the volume of transport along the North–South Corridor to 15 million tons and to ensure the continuous flow of goods. They also agreed to establish a joint working group tasked with preparing an action plan for implementing the planned measures within three months. Meanwhile, it was also agreed to form a special working group on automobile transport, comprising representatives from the customs, border, and transport authorities of the three countries.
