SCO leaders sign “Bishkek Declaration”

Pars Today — Leaders of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) signed the Bishkek Declaration during the organization’s summit in Kyrgyzstan.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, participants in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization stressed the need to reform and improve the global governance and regulatory system, including the development of norms and rules that guarantee the equal participation of all countries in international decision-making and ensure that they benefit from the outcomes of such decisions.

The declaration also states that the SCO member states welcome cooperation with interested countries, international organizations, as well as multilateral alliances and organizations.

The declaration emphasizes: “Engagement within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus (SCO Plus) contributes to the formation of a broad and inclusive global partnership.”

The declaration also addresses major issues currently on the global agenda, including the need for the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies, sustainable development, and reform of the global economic governance system.

In addition to the Bishkek Declaration marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, participants at the summit also signed 27 other documents.

The SCO summit in Bishkek was held to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the organization’s establishment. Kyrgyzstan held the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization under the theme: “25 Years of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization: Together Toward Lasting Peace, Development and Prosperity.”
