Pezeshkian: A common currency could boost regional economic development
Pars Today – The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Tuesday during a meeting with the Interior Minister of Tajikistan, stated that based on religious and cultural ties in the region, it is possible to facilitate communication, remove obstacles, and even introduce a common currency to support regional economic development.
On the sidelines of the ECO Ministers’ meeting, Masoud Pezeshkian met with Ramazan Rahimzadeh, the Interior Minister of Tajikistan, emphasizing regional solidarity, security, and sustainable development. He noted that the people of Iran and Tajikistan share common culture, traditions, and customs, and stressed the need for continuous expansion of bilateral relations across all fields.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran highlighted the importance of security as a cornerstone for fostering exchanges and interactions. He emphasized the need to strengthen border protection and regional security, combat traffickers and any acts undermining safety, and establish a clear framework to facilitate and expand cooperation among traders, elites, and citizens of regional countries in cultural, economic, scientific, and medical fields.
Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of maintaining and strengthening unity and cohesion among regional countries, especially Islamic nations, noting that religious and cultural ties can facilitate communication and remove barriers in the region. During the meeting, the Interior Minister of Tajikistan also emphasized the strong cultural ties between the two nations, stating: “We consider Iran our home.”
