Araghchi: Iran seeks to strengthen trust among regional countries

Pars Today – Iran’s foreign minister met with the secretary-general of the Arab League and the foreign ministers of several countries during his visit to New York.

According to Pars Today, citing Mehr News Agency, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, who has traveled to New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy and stressed Iran’s determination to strengthen trust among regional countries. He described security as an integrated and indivisible matter that depends on a shared understanding of responsibilities and constructive engagement.

Araghchi called for increased dialogue and interaction between Iran and Arab countries, expressing confidence that this would help resolve misunderstandings and concerns arising from the propaganda of Iran and the Arab countries’ common adversaries.

The Arab League secretary-general also expressed hope that, through the efforts of all regional parties and the expansion of dialogue and engagement, mutual trust would be strengthened and cooperation among regional countries would increase.

Iranian and Saudi Foreign Ministers Meet

The foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia met on the sidelines of the 81st annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Araghchi referred to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to strengthen trust, particularly through security mechanisms based on engagement among regional countries. He expressed hope that all influential regional parties would cooperate in this regard, taking into account the bitter experience of the past seven months and the United States and Israeli regime’s exploitation of the territory and facilities of some regional parties to prepare for and carry out military aggression against Iran.

Araghchi Stresses Global Community’s Responsibility to Hold the US Accountable

Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, as part of his ongoing consultations with the foreign ministers of countries attending the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, met and held talks with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers of Iran and India discussed and exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional and international developments.

The Iranian foreign minister outlined the latest regional developments and explained the Islamic Republic of Iran’s positions. He described the United States’ breach of commitments and its aggressive approach toward Iran, including its maritime blockade and attacks on Iranian commercial shipping, as the main cause of insecurity in the region and the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed the international community’s responsibility to hold the parties responsible for aggression accountable.

The foreign ministers of Iran and India also reviewed developments in their shared neighborhood and stressed the importance of using all available capacities to improve security and prevent an escalation of tensions in the region.

Araghchi to Portuguese Counterpart: Insecurity in Strait of Hormuz Is Result of US Aggression

During a meeting with Portugal’s foreign minister, the head of Iran’s diplomatic apparatus outlined the ongoing developments in the region, describing the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz and disruption to maritime shipping as the direct result of the aggressive actions of the United States and the Israeli regime. He stressed that restoring maritime security in the region requires an end to the US actions that create insecurity and its economic terrorism.

Araghchi stressed: “The European Union and its member states must adopt an independent, responsible approach in line with international law toward developments in the West Asia region.”
