Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani stressed the need for efforts to enhance economic interaction with neighboring Armenia in various fields.

According to Tasnim news agency, in a meeting with Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian in Tehran on Wednesday, Larijani said Tehran considers no limits to the promotion of cooperation with Yerevan, stressing that regional nations should maintain friendly ties given the current situation across the region.

He said Iranian and Armenian companies in various industries, such as the information technology, civil engineering and road construction, can contribute to the expansion of bilateral economic relations.

Emphasizing the necessity for closer banking cooperation between Iran and Armenia in order to facilitate trade ties, Larijani said the two countries could take advantage of the potential provided by the Eurasian Economic Union.

For his part, the visiting Armenian premier underscored that cooperation with Iran must reach the highest level.

Pashinian added that his country has capitalized on industry and information technology to boost its economy.

Economic relations between the regional neighbors could grow, he added, calling for long-term plans to meet the challenges through joint efforts.

Heading a political delegation, the Armenian prime minister arrived in Iran on Wednesday and held meetings with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani.
