Iran’s Mousavi wins bronze at World Weightlifting C’ship

Iran’s Seyyed Ayoub Mousavi has pocketed a bronze medal in the 96kg category at the 2019 IWF World Championships in Thailand.

According to Press TV, Mousavi grabbed the clean and jerk bronze after lifting 214 kilograms on his final attempt. The 24-year-old Iranian finished a disappointing 9th in the snatch with 168 kg, and tallied a total of 382kg to finish 5th overall.

In the same weight category, Tian Tao of China won gold with a total of 410kg. Qatar’s Faris Ibrahim settled for silver with a total of 402kg, and Anton Pliesnoi of Georgia completed the podium with a total lift of 394kg.
