Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of those martyred in a US-backed terrorist attack on the Iranian Parliament three years ago, saying that the botched assault aimed to retaliate the successes of the resistance front in the region.

According to Tasnim news agency, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi tweeted on Sunday “3yrs ago today, US-backed Daesh Takfiri terrorist group carried out the botched terror attack on Iran’s Parliament to retaliate the successes of 'Resistance Front' under Lt. Gen. Soleimani’s leadership & sacrifice. 2yrs later, the Lieutenant General as counterterrorism champion was cowardly assassinated by terrorist America.”

On June 7, 2017, terrorists launched simultaneous attacks on Iran’s parliament building and on the mausoleum of late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini (God’s mercy upon him) in Tehran.

Daesh claimed responsibility for the attacks, which martyred 17 people and wounded more than 40.

All five gunmen directly involved in the attacks were killed by security forces.
