Military copters flown to put out wildfire in South Iran
Ministry of Defense has employed helicopters to contain wildfires in the southern provinces of Iran.
According to Tasnim News Agency, Director of the Defense Ministry’s Aerial Firefighting Center Mohammad Mahdi Noori said the military helicopters have performed several sorties over the past days to assist in curbing wildfires that have broken out in Zagros woodlands in a number of southern and southwestern provinces.
He said a rise in temperature has triggered fires in the provinces of Fars and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.
Following requests from the Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization and the Crisis Management Organization of Iran, the Defense Ministry has deployed three helicopters to the crisis-hit regions, Noori added.
Military forces play a leading role in the rescue and relief efforts during natural disasters in the country. The Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) units have saved the lives of civilians in many incidents, such as floods and earthquakes.
