Greece eyes closer ties with Iran as President Raeisi assumes power
Greek president congratulated her Iranian counterpart on taking office, expressing confidence about the promotion of ties between Athens and Tehran.
According to Tasnim news agency, Katerina Sakellaropoulou sent a message to President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi on Monday, congratulating him on taking office.
The relations between Greece and Iran are friendly, historical and based upon mutual respect, she noted in the message.
Sakellaropoulou also expressed confidence that Greece and Iran will continue to broaden their relations to serve the interests of the two nations as well as the stability, security and welfare beyond the region.
President Raeisi was sworn in as the eighth president of Iran on August 5.
