Iran’s former chief of staff of Armed Forces passes away
Former Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi passed away on Friday after enduring a period of illness.
According to Tasnim news agency, for 27 years, Major General Hassan Firouzabadi, had served as the chief of staff of the Armed Forces by the decree of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces.
After that in 2016, he was appointed by Ayatollah Khamenei as the military adviser to the Commander-in-Chief and Major General Hossein Baqeri was appointed as his successor.
Major General Mohammad Baqeri, the current Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, expressed his grief over Major General Firouzabadi’s demise.
In a message on Friday morning, Major General Baqeri said the late commander’s invaluable and sincere services with the aim of safeguarding the country’s national security and protecting the Islamic Republic of Iran will be undoubtedly remembered.
He also expressed his condolences to the Leader, Major General Firouzabadi’s bereaved family and the commanders and personnel of the Iranian Armed forces and wished them patience to overcome his absence.
