Iranian FM congratulates Ortega on Nicaragua election win

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian congratulated Daniel Ortega on his reelection as the president of Nicaragua in the recent elections, hoping for the promotion of ties between Tehran and Managua in all fields.

According to Tasnim news agency, the top Iranian diplomat on Wednesday sent a message to Ortega, congratulating him and his party on victory in the recent presidential and parliamentary elections in Nicaragua.

Hailing the overwhelming support that the “resisting and revolutionary” people of Nicaragua have given to Ortega and his Sandinista Alliance, Amirabdollahian expressed hope for the expansion of the friendly and brotherly relations between Iran and Nicaragua in all fields of mutual interest.

Ortega has won a fourth consecutive presidential term in elections.

Preliminary results announced by the country’s Supreme Electoral Council on Monday showed Ortega's Sandinista Alliance winning about 76% of votes with almost all the ballots counted.
