Some 1,300 new COVID cases hospitalized in Iran
The number of coronavirus patients admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours stood at around 1,300, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.
According to Tasnim News Agency, the new figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 7,073,700 following the detection of 6,772 new cases since yesterday.
Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 1,321 patients have been admitted to the hospital.
At least 6,696,400 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.
The ministry also put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 137,439, saying the disease has taken the lives of 172 patients over the past 24 hours.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,098 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units, it said.
The ministry added that over 62.97 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 55.58 million have received the second dosage, and more than 23.45 million have gotten the booster shots.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 440 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.99 million.
