Officials discuss problems of Afghans refugees in Iran
Officials representing the Iranian embassy in Kabul and the Taliban weighed plans to handle the problems of the Afghan refugees flocking into Iran.
According to Tasnim news agency, in a meeting in Kabul, Deputy Ambassador of Iran to Afghanistan Hassan Mortazavi and the Taliban’s Minister for Refugees, Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, discussed ways to address the troubles caused by the influx of Afghan refugees to Iran.
In comments after the meeting, the Iranian diplomat said the two sides have agreed to cooperate to resolve the problems of the Afghan migrants in Iran.
Pointing to a series of administrative problems in the process of allowing the Afghan refugees entry, which have arisen since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, Mortazavi stressed the need for coordination with the Taliban as a large number of new Afghan migrants have flocked into Iran in recent months.
The Iranian deputy ambassador also noted that a Taliban delegation will visit Tehran for a series of negotiations on the problems relating to the Afghan migrants.
