Iranian diplomat urges unconditional humanitarian support for Syria

A senior adviser to the Iranian foreign minister called for fair, balanced and transparent humanitarian support for the Syrian people without any political preconditions.

According to Tasnim news agency, in a telephone conversation on Saturday, Ali Asghar Khaji and UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen talked about the latest political developments in Syria, the activities of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, and the UN Security Council’s most recent resolution regarding Syria.

Khaji underlined that humanitarian support for the Syrian people must be provided in a fair, balanced and transparent manner and should be distributed across entire Syria without any discrimination or political preconditions.

He also stressed the need for the full implementation of the UNSC resolution on the reconstruction of Syria’s infrastructures that are necessary for the daily lives of people.

The Iranian adviser and Pedersen also emphasized the importance of political processes to resolve the crisis in Syria and help the Syrian Constitutional Committee proceed with its activities.
