Pars Today – Iran’s president has said that the country’s adversaries had assumed they could exploit existing challenges to create divisions and discord within Iranian society. However, he added, the people’s steadfastness and the preservation of national unity had thwarted those calculations.

According to Pars Today, citing the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), President Masoud Pezeshkian made the remarks on Thursday morning, October 15, 2026, during a ceremony marking Nurses’ Day.

Paying tribute to the memory of the founder of the Islamic Revolution and Iran’s martyrs, particularly the martyred Leader, commanders, scientists, students, doctors, nurses, combatants, and all those who had lost their lives in service to the Iranian nation, Pezeshkian stressed the need to safeguard national cohesion, strengthen social solidarity, and counter adversaries’ efforts to sow divisions within Iranian society.

Elaborating on the adversaries’ calculations regarding Iran’s situation, the president noted that they had believed they could exploit existing challenges to create fragmentation and discord within Iranian society. However, he said, the people’s steadfastness and the preservation of national unity had defeated those calculations.

Referring to external pressures and restrictions imposed on Iran, Pezeshkian said the adversaries were using various means, including restrictions on communication and transportation routes, to intensify pressure on the country and force it to surrender. However, he stressed that the Iranian people had decided to stand firm against these pressures.

Overcoming the current difficult circumstances, he added, requires national unity, mutual cooperation, and the participation of all segments of Iranian society in addressing the country’s challenges.

Pezeshkian also highlighted the adversaries’ efforts to undermine social resilience, emphasizing that one of the objectives of external pressure is to erode Iranian society’s ability to withstand hardships and create conditions conducive to internal divisions and mistrust.

Experience has shown, he said, that the use of military force and the infliction of damage do not necessarily lead a nation to surrender.

Referring to the international response to the Iranian people’s steadfastness during foreign engagements and visits, Pezeshkian stated that their perseverance and resistance in the face of pressure had presented a different image of Iranian society on the international stage.

He concluded that this social capacity could become a lasting achievement if accompanied by greater public trust and stronger cooperation among different segments of Iranian society.
