Iran building large-scale biogas plant in city of Mashhad

The holy city of Mashhad in northeastern Iran is building the largest biogas plant in the country. Biogas as a type of renewable fuel produced after organic waste, such as food scraps and agricultural waste, is decomposed in an oxygen-free environment, producing gases such as methane, which can be converted into electricity.
