ParsToday – Russia's representative at the IAEA Board of Governors meeting has said that if this organization wants inspections in Iran to resume, it must give Tehran real security guarantees.

According to a ParsToday report citing the Sada and Sima news agency, Mikhail Ulyanov, the representative of the Russian Federation to international organizations based in Vienna, early Thursday called for the International Atomic Energy Agency to provide security guarantees to Iran.

In this regard, he explained: "Russia insists that in order to resume full verification activities in Iran, truly reliable guarantees are needed from the US and Israel that they will not resume the use of military force or the threat of it."

The Russian diplomat stated: "IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi can play a constructive role in providing such guarantees in contacts with the relevant parties."

According to this report, Ulyanov also added: Despite the critical security situation, Tehran has agreed to allow the agency's inspections at all three units of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in mid-September.
