Criminals, outlaws flagbearers of global security: Foreign Ministry spokesman
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman has slammed the latest allegations leveled by the US and the Israeli regime against Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program, saying it is ridiculous that criminals and outlaws now claim to be the flagbearers of global security.
According to Press TV, Nasser Kan’ani wrote in a tweet on Tuesday “US Secretary of State [Antony Blinken] whose country used 1st #atomic bomb in world and PM of fake #Zionist regime, with horrible #nuclear arsenal, stand together warning of Iran nuclearization.”
He said that Blinken and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leveled the accusations against Iran, which is a committed member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, commonly known as the NPT.
“Ridiculous but true; criminals & outlaws flagbearers of int’l security!” he added.
In a communique, both the United States and Israel claimed that Iran is playing a “destabilizing” role “in the region and beyond,” insisting on their overused, unfounded assertion that Tehran must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.
“Just as Iran has long supported terrorists that attack Israelis and others, Islamic Republic is now providing drones that Russia is using to kill innocent Ukrainian civilians,” Blinken claimed.
In a Sunday interview with the Saudi-run Al Arabiya news agency, Blinken also claimed that Iran has rejected the opportunity it had last summer to return to the 2015 nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Reacting to his remarks, Kan’ani said on Monday, “The US administration must be aware of the legal and international responsibilities resulting from threatening remarks against the Islamic Republic of Iran and think twice about the political consequences of such provocative statements.”
“The US government is well aware that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not tolerate any aggression or encroachment on its territory and interests and will respond decisively ... to the aggressors,” Kan’ani said, warning that Iran’s response will make enemies regret their act.
