  • Iran condemns massive terrorist attack in Kabul

Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qasemi, has condemned a massive Taliban bomb attack on a hotel housing foreign contractors in the Afghan capital of Kabul.

“Terrorism has turned into a common commodity in the market of regional political brokers and the willful negligence and tolerance shown by international bodies and actors concerning this ominous phenomenon has helped it further grow,” Qasemi said on Monday.

He stressed the importance of uprooting terrorism in the region, saying that Takfiri terrorists' acts of terror are rooted in the Wahhabi ideology.

The spokesperson said the Wahhabi school of thought with its record of murder, plundering, violence, slavery and destruction of religious sites and monuments has links with the Saudi ruling family that is spending huge amounts of money to spread it across the world.

The Wahhabi ideology has turned into a source of institutionalizing extremism and terrorism in the world and a threat to global security, Qasemi added.

“A genuine and fundamental fight against terrorism will not be possible without international determination and resolve away from double-standard policies,” the Iranian spokesperson pointed out.

A truck packed with explosives struck the outer wall of the Northgate Hotel on the outskirts of Kabul at about 1.30 a.m. local time (2100 GMT Sunday) on Monday, triggering hours of clashes.

One policeman lost his life and three others were wounded in the terrorist attack but none of the hotel staff or guests were hurt.
