Araghchi: We have not yet decided to resume negotiations with U.S.

Pars Today – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stressed that Iran has not yet made any decision to resume negotiations with the United States.

According to Pars Today, citing Tasnim News Agency, Araghchi spoke about the latest status of the Islamabad ceasefire memorandum, saying: “The Islamabad memorandum of understanding announced the ‘end of the war,’ and there is no ceasefire to be extended. What had been agreed upon was a 60-day period for negotiations toward a final agreement, but the United States violated it, and hostilities resumed.”

He added that Qatar and Pakistan, as mediators, are only exchanging messages and remain in contact, but this does not constitute negotiations. “We have not yet decided to resume negotiations with the United States,” he said.

Araghchi stressed that Iran’s talks with Oman are an entirely separate and technical matter concerning the establishment of maritime routes through the Strait of Hormuz and the passage of vessels. “The previous routes are no longer functional, and we are designing a temporary route that will later be turned into a permanent one.”

The Iranian foreign minister emphasized that the technical talks with Oman and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz are two separate issues. Even after a route is established, he said, reopening the strait will depend on the fulfillment of other conditions to which the United States must adhere.
