Foreign Ministry strongly condemns Daesh attack on Syrian army bus

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kan'ani has strongly condemned the recent Daesh terrorist group’s attack on a bus carrying Syrian soldiers in the Arab country’s eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr.

According to Press TV, he made the remarks in a statement on Saturday, a day after dozens of military personnel were killed or wounded during the terrorist attack in the oil-rich province.

The spokesman went on to say that the rise in terror attacks in Syria in recent months is due to the continued intelligence, security and logistical support to terrorists with the aim of preventing stability and security in the war-torn country.

The diplomat further noted that helping to create a breathing space for the survival of Daesh and Takfiri terrorists to continue their operations in Syria is a coordinated action in line with the Israeli regime's aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country, and they pursue common goals.

On Friday, Daesh ambushed the bus in Dayr al-Zawr, claiming the lives of 26 troops and injuring 11 others, some in critical condition, in what was described as the deadliest terrorist attack in months.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the terrorists surrounded the bus in the desert near Mayadeen and opened fire.

In recent weeks, Daesh members have increased their surprise attacks in Syria's north and northeast, where they maintain hideouts.

Last month, it claimed responsibility for the two bombings that hit the Sayyeda Zeinab area south of Damascus, martyring and wounding dozens.
