  • Global freedom dependent on de-dollarization of world economy

Pars Today – The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the United States uses countries’ dependence on the dollar as a weapon, announcing that de-dollarization is nearly the demand of all countries and freedom-seeking nations worldwide.

A few days ago, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi at a BRICS meeting held in New York said: “Unfortunately, the current global economic infrastructure is frighteningly in the hands of powers that have effectively turned global economic structures into a weapon against competitors.”

According to Pars Today, Araghchi emphasized in this meeting that the U.S exploits countries’ dependency on the dollar, along with imposing banking restrictions, inequality in decision-making within international financial institutions, lack of consensus, and more, as a weapon.

According to Araghchi, de-dollarization is the demand of all countries and freedom-seeking nations around the world.

Previously, Paulo Nogueira Batista Jr., the former representative of Brazil at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), stated in an interview with RT that “the U.S. dollar has become a dangerous currency.”

In this interview, Batista Jr. pointed out that trust in the dollar as the global reserve currency has been gradually declining, as more countries are looking for alternatives, turning this trend into a major movement toward de-dollarization.
In this context, Ali Haddadi, a member of Iran’s Parliament’s commission on industries and mines, believes that if the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS operationalize de-dollarization – which is also one of the recommendations and demands of Imam Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution – it would counter U.S. unilateralism and enhance the power of the member countries, as the role of the dollar would diminish.

Moreover, Western media have repeatedly acknowledged that de-dollarization of the global economy and countries’ exchanges is occurring at a rapid pace. In this regard, CNBC’s website reported that calls to phase out the U.S. dollar in trade are increasing, and more countries, from Brazil to Southeast Asia, are seeking to conduct trade using currencies other than the U.S. dollar.
