Pars Today - The foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia emphasized that the three European countries lack the legal and moral competence to resort to the JCPOA dispute resolution mechanism with the aim of reinstating the cancelled UN Security Council resolutions.

Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia, in a telephone conversation early Saturday, discussed developments related to Iran's nuclear issue, particularly the moves by the three European countries on the eve of the legal termination of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, as well as the issue of cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, it was emphasized in this conversation that the three European countries, due to their failure to fulfill JCPOA commitments on one hand and their complicity with the United States in attacking Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities on the other, have committed a flagrant violation of Resolution 2231 and therefore lack the legal and moral competence to resort to the JCPOA dispute resolution mechanism with the aim of reinstating the canceled Security Council resolutions.

In this conversation, the foreign ministers of Iran and Russia assessed the path ahead for the nuclear negotiations and emphasized the termination of Resolution 2231 on its scheduled date.

Regarding the idea of the three European countries to extend Resolution 2231, Araghchi explained Iran's principled position and emphasized that, from Iran's perspective, the decision to extend Resolution 2231 lies with the Security Council and its members.

Also, the two sides in this conversation emphasized the continuation of interaction and consultation between Iran and Russia at various levels to better advance common positions.
