Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Foreign Minister
Pars Today – Iran's Foreign Minister says the Cairo Agreement is no longer valid and described the actions of the United States and three European countries to reinstate the terminated UN Security Council sanctions against Iran as illegal.
During a joint meeting with ambassadors, chargés d'affaires, and heads of foreign and international missions residing in Tehran on Sunday, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the resumption of these Security Council sanctions illegal.
According to Pars Today, citing the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) News Agency, the latest regional developments were discussed behind closed doors at the joint meeting of the head of Iran's foreign policy apparatus with foreign ambassadors residing in Tehran.
Explaining Iran's approaches following the illegal action by the United States and three European countries to reinstate the Security Council sanctions was the most important agenda of this meeting.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, after the joint meeting with ambassadors, chargés d'affaires, and heads of foreign and international missions residing in Tehran, also emphasized to reporters: "Snapback" changes all previous conditions, and the Cairo Agreement is no longer valid; the Islamic Republic of Iran has tried every possible way to resolve the issue through negotiation, and now the Westerners have no justifiable reason to use snapback.
Araghchi said: Experience has proven that there is no solution other than a diplomatic solution to resolve Iran's nuclear issue.
The head of Iran's foreign policy apparatus stated: Just as a military attack was not the solution to Iran's nuclear issue, snapback also has no achievement in this regard.
Araghchi, stating that diplomacy always exists, emphasized: Europe has lost and diminished its role in negotiations with Iran.
Iran's Foreign Minister added: If they (the US and Europe) come forward with good faith, one can be hopeful about the outcome of the negotiations, especially in the current situation and with the return of Security Council sanctions, which has made the situation more difficult.
The head of Iran's foreign policy apparatus said: During the military aggression by the US and the occupying regime against Iran, all countries declared solidarity with the Islamic Republic, because Iran was a wise actor. Now, a similar event has occurred, and Iran is recognized as a rational actor in the world.
