Pars Today - Iran's National Post Company, by implementing smart robotics technology, won the 2024 Asia-Pacific Postal Union Innovation Award in the postal industry.

Iran's National Post Company, by implementing smart robotics technology, won the 2024 Asia-Pacific Postal Union (APPU) Innovation Award in the postal industry—an achievement that has elevated the efficiency, speed, and accuracy of mail processing to a new level.

According to Pars Today, the monthly publication of the Asia-Pacific Postal Union praised Iran Post’s achievements in industrial innovation in a recent report. The report stated that by introducing and implementing smart robotics technology, Iran Post succeeded in winning the Innovation Award at the 2024 APPU Postal Business Forum.

The smart robotics technology, first launched in March 2023, was designed to enhance efficiency, speed, and accuracy in mail sorting centers. Within seven months, the system successfully sorted over two million parcels with 100% accuracy and achieved a daily processing capacity of 30,000 parcels destined for 64 locations.

Other notable features of this technology include lower energy consumption compared to traditional mechanized systems, the ability to process letters and packages weighing up to 7 kilograms, and a reduction in the required workforce from 30 to 7 employees per shift.

Moreover, the work environment of this system has been designed to enable employees with reduced physical abilities to operate effectively.

At the Tehran Sorting and Exchange Center, 55 robots process up to 3,000 postal items per hour simultaneously within a limited space. The second phase of the project, involving the deployment of 25 robots, is currently being implemented in Kermanshah Province.

The primary objectives of this initiative are to increase the speed and accuracy of mail sorting, enhance operational productivity, improve service quality, and establish an intelligent infrastructure aligned with modern technologies in the postal industry.
