Interview with Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, by U.S. News Network NBC
Pars Today – The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, referring to the proposal for inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency, said: "If the intention is to accuse Iran of having nuclear weapons, we will not allow inspections of nuclear sites to take place."
Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, gave an interview to the American news network NBC, elaborating on Iran's positions regarding its nuclear program and international relations. According to Pars Today, Pezeshkian, referring to the issue of inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), stated: "If Iran is to be accused of seeking nuclear weapons, we will not permit any inspections of our nuclear sites."
He posed the question, "How can they expect us to allow inspections after they triggered the snapback mechanism?" and added, "They refused to act in accordance with the regulations and frameworks of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), of which Iran is also a member."
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also referred to the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, stating: "The Zionist regime has no right to attack nuclear sites that are under IAEA supervision. Nevertheless, they violated international law by carrying out such an attack, and international organizations remained silent in response."
Pezeshkian described this silence as part of Western bullying and added: "Western countries are encouraging Israel—the very source of insecurity in the region—while imposing sanctions on Iran, which has been subjected to aggression and invasion by the Zionist regime."
In another part of his remarks, Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's right to peaceful nuclear energy within the framework of international law, stating: "We neither seek war, nor do we fear it."
Regarding U.S. policies, he warned: "Trump speaks of making peace, but the path he has chosen will set the entire region ablaze."
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran stressed: "Iran has never initiated a war, nor will it ever start one; however, anyone who attacks us will receive a crushing response. We will undoubtedly continue strengthening our capabilities day by day so that no one can easily aggress against us."
Referring to the atrocities committed in Gaza, he noted: "Do you know why they bomb civilians in Gaza and all international organizations remain silent, unable to take any action? It is precisely because the people of Gaza possess no defensive power."
Pezeshkian emphasized: "To date, they have killed 65,000 innocent people in Gaza, and women and children are dying from extreme hunger. One must ask: according to which human or humanitarian law is this permitted—that because a certain group holds power, they can bomb wherever they please, day after day, without anyone holding them accountable? Yet, Iran, which acts in accordance with international law, is the one they seek to restrict, condemn, and attack. Is this anything other than the law of the jungle?"
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, referring to American breaches of trust, stated: "Here in the United States, which claims to uphold democracy and freedom, they first prevented many members of the Iranian delegation from entering the United Nations; second, they denied us accommodation near the UN headquarters. Wherever we were eventually housed, we faced restrictions on accessing certain areas and neighborhoods, and were not permitted to move beyond a limited perimeter or engage in dialogue with other delegations present at the United Nations. This is the standard treatment they extend to us—and yet, in their own virtual spaces and media outlets, they accuse Iran of seeking unrest."
Pezeshkian emphasized: "We are ready for dialogue and are very willing to openly express our views. However, naturally, we do not intend to submit to demands that contradict the rights and entitlements of peoples as defined within international frameworks. Unfortunately, the Americans do not want us to pursue this path."
