Pars Today – The Governor of Sistan and Baluchestan in southeastern Iran announced a 39% growth in exports from the country’s southeastern borders.
According to Pars Today, Mansour Bijar, governor of Sistan and Baluchestan, said on Wednesday that following an agreement between the presidents of Iran and Pakistan to increase trade exchanges up to $10 billion annually, Iran’s southeastern borders—particularly Mirjaveh—are a key operational axis for achieving this goal.
Speaking during a visit to the Mirjaveh border market and terminal, the governor told IRNA that under the government’s policy of granting more authority to border provinces, a series of measures are being implemented to activate terminals and facilitate trade with neighboring countries, which could help achieve the trade targets between Iran and Pakistan.
Bijar added that in the past ten months, exports from Sistan and Baluchestan customs increased by 39% in volume and 14% in value compared to the same period last year. He noted that this data indicates that Iran’s southeastern borders are gradually playing a more prominent role in the country’s foreign trade and have the potential to become a key route connecting Iran to markets in South and East Asia.
The governor emphasized that with strategic utilization of border capacities, these areas could not only boost the economy of Sistan and Baluchestan but also strengthen Iran’s position in regional trade and transit networks.
