Pars Today — Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations condemned the “brutal and illegal aggression” by the United States and Israel against Iran.
According to Pars Today, Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, wrote in a letter to the United Nations Security Council, the UN Secretary-General, and other officials of the international body on the sixth day of the U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran that the Islamic Republic of Iran once again condemns these brutal, aggressive, and illegal actions in the strongest possible terms.
Iravani stated: “In response to these acts of aggression, the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue to exercise its inherent and legitimate right of self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter until this aggression ceases. In this regard, Iran will take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, people, and vital national interests.”
The letter concluded by calling on all member states of the United Nations—which bear responsibility for maintaining international peace and security—to clearly and unequivocally condemn this act of aggression and to take immediate and collective measures to end the bloodshed and war against the Iranian people, warning that the situation represents an unprecedented threat to regional and international peace and security.
