Pars Today – With a positive vote and the unanimous (100%) approval of the members of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) meeting, the appointment of Sima Limoochi from Iran as head of the federation’s World Para Table Tennis Committee was finalized.
According to Pars Today, Sima Limoochi had previously been appointed as the acting (interim) chair of the World Para Table Tennis Committee. That appointment took place in Azar (December) of last year, during a meeting of the ITTF Executive Board members in Chengdu, China.
In this context, during the recent World Championships hosted in London, the review of the status of active committees within the federation and the vote to confirm the interim chairs as permanent heads were placed on the agenda of the ITTF meeting.
The members gave a unanimous (100%) positive vote regarding the World Para Table Tennis Committee and Sima Limoochi’s chairmanship of it, and thus, after about six months as interim chair, her position as head of the committee was officially confirmed.
Sima Limoochi is the head coach of the Iranian women’s national table tennis team, and this is the first time in the history of table tennis that the chairmanship of a committee of the International Table Tennis Federation has been assigned to an Iranian.
The World Para Table Tennis Committee is one of the most important specialized bodies of the ITTF in the field of sports for persons with disabilities, and its chair plays a key role in policymaking, development, and oversight of global programs in this discipline.
