Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations said that the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz and its global economic consequences are solely the responsibility of those who initiated the war against Iran and their regional partners.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Amir Saeid Iravani stated on Friday during a special session of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) that growing instability in energy markets, supply chains, and global trade flows poses a serious challenge to sustainable development, international cooperation, and global economic stability.

Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations added that, in this context, Iran has suffered deeply and in two interconnected ways. In less than a year, Iran has been the target of two unlawful acts of aggression by the Israeli regime and the United States, which are clearly in violation of the UN Charter and international law.

Amir Saeid Iravani said that direct attacks on Iran’s oil, gas, and petrochemical infrastructure have caused severe economic and environmental damage in the Persian Gulf region. These attacks have also disrupted global energy and fertilizer supply chains, leading to serious consequences for food security and agricultural production worldwide.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations added that unilateral sanctions, coercive measures, and the naval blockade imposed by the United States have further disrupted global supply chains and increased instability in energy and essential commodity markets.

The Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations emphasized that sustainable regional security cannot be achieved through confrontation or reliance on external powers, but only through dialogue, mutual respect, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and genuine regional and international cooperation.

He stressed that Iran remains committed to constructive engagement and efforts to restore stability, energy security, and the normalization of the Strait of Hormuz, provided that aggression and military escalation are halted and the naval blockade is lifted.
