Pars Today – Iranian super heavyweight weightlifter Alireza Yousefi broke the world record in the clean and jerk event of the +110 kg category, winning bronze in the snatch, gold in the clean and jerk, and silver overall at the Asian Championships.

According to Pars Today, the Asian Weightlifting Championships are being held from May 11 to May 17 in Gandhinagar, located in India’s Gujarat state.

Iran’s national weightlifting team participated in the competition with two athletes: Alireza Nasiri in the 110 kg category and Alireza Yousefi in the +110 kg division.

Competing in the +110 kg category, Yousefi successfully lifted 177 kg and 184 kg in the snatch, but failed in his attempt at 189 kg, ultimately earning the bronze medal in that event.

The Iranian super heavyweight delivered a remarkable performance in the clean and jerk. After lifting 248 kg successfully, he failed in his second attempt at 261 kg, but managed to lift the same weight in his third attempt, securing the gold medal in the clean and jerk and setting a new world record in the category.

Yousefi also claimed the silver medal overall with a combined total of 445 kg.
