According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, Chris Wood, New Zealand’s striker, said in a pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Iran early Monday morning that most World Cup matches so far have been close and evenly contested, with almost all teams having a chance to win. He added that this gives them confidence that they can perform well and compete for victory.

The New Zealand goal scorer stated that the team is fully focused on football, and once on the pitch, nothing else matters. He said they know Iran well, have watched their previous matches, and are aware that they are a very strong team.

Wood noted that Iran has performed very well in this tournament and currently leads its group.
