Iran wins one gold, one silver at Kazakhstan International Taekwondo Tournament
Pars Today – Iranian taekwondo athletes claimed one gold and one silver medal at the Kazakhstan International Taekwondo Tournament.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, the Kyrgyzstan Open International Taekwondo Championships were held on Thursday with the participation of 372 senior athletes. Iran's representatives finished the competition with a gold medal for Reza Kalhor and a silver medal for Hasti Valinejad.
Competing in the men's under-74 kg division, Reza Kalhor defeated Berkay Erer of Turkey in the semifinals to advance to the final. He then overcame his Russian opponent in straight rounds to secure the gold medal.
In the women's under-46 kg category, Hasti Valinejad earned two victories over competitors from Kazakhstan to reach the semifinals. She then defeated Nazli Tesgin of Turkey to book her place in the final. In the championship match, however, the Iranian athlete was defeated by Akbarova of Azerbaijan, settling for the silver medal.
