Pars Today – Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, marking the anniversary of the chemical bombing of the city of Sardasht, stressed that Iran will continue to pursue accountability for those responsible for the attack.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, wrote in a post on social media:

"Sardasht was not only a victim of chemical bombs; it was also a victim of the double standards and silence of countries such as Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands, which armed Saddam's regime with these inhumane weapons and then turned a blind eye to the suffering of thousands of victims. We will vigorously pursue accountability for those responsible for this crime."

On June 28, 1987, the Iraqi Ba'ath regime's air force dropped chemical bombs on four densely populated areas of Sardasht, in northwestern Iran. The attack martyred 110 civilians, while another 8,000 people were exposed to toxic gases and poisoned, with many survivors continuing to suffer from the long-term effects.
