Leader appoints six senior military commanders

Pars Today — The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has issued separate decrees appointing six senior commanders to key positions in the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and Iran’s Basij Organization.

According to Pars Today, citing the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has issued separate decrees assigning new responsibilities and missions to six senior commanders and officials of Iran’s Armed Forces.

Under the decrees, Brigadier General Pilot Ali Abdollahi of the IRGC has been appointed Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, and Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari has been appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi has also been promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Major General Mostafa Izadi has been appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC.

Under the same decrees, Rear Admiral Ali Ozamaei has been appointed Commander of the IRGC Navy, while Hojjatoleslam Hossein Taeb has been appointed Head of Iran’s Basij Organization.
