Pars Today — The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdolnasser Hemmati, met with Iraq’s Minister of Trade during a visit to Iraq to discuss ways to facilitate economic ties and remove existing obstacles to trade between the two countries.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, the meeting was held as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand trade, investment, and monetary relations. The two sides emphasized the considerable potential for expanding economic ties between Iran and Iraq and discussed implementing previous agreements and increasing banking interactions between the two neighboring countries.

Hemmati, referring to the role of private-sector businesses in facilitating the export and import of goods, stressed the need to adopt new mechanisms to speed up trade, particularly at border entry points.

Iraq’s Minister of Trade, Mustafa Nizar al-Ani, welcomed the expansion of cooperation and emphasized the Iraqi government’s determination to address the challenges facing businesses and strengthen trade ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
